Homes that offer more storage, sophistication and flow are on the majority of our clients’ wish lists when they approach us. Which is why we’re dedicating the first of our 2026 ‘Tales of Transformation’ to this beautiful family home we completed in Haslemere last year. Our clients were a busy family who wanted to extend the kitchen, add a new utility room and find creative ways to maximise space.
From the bespoke joinery and statement lighting to the sophisticated colour palette, every detail was thoughtfully crafted to create a home that’s as practical as it is beautiful.
Today, we’re pulling back the curtain on some of the features we’re most proud of – the clever touches that elevate everyday living and the design details that make this house truly special.
Let There Be Light
Maximising light was a priority throughout this renovation, and the Velux windows certainly deliver on that front. But we took things one step further by adding LED lighting to the window reveals. The result? Soft, ambient light that enhances the architectural lines of the space whilst giving a romantic glow during the evening hours.
For us though, the addition of a picture window in the corner of the kitchen – complete with remote-controlled blinds – is the real showstopper. Amplified by the quartz window sills that reflect light and run directly from the kitchen worktop to create a seamless transition, it’s truly special and beautifully connects the indoors with outside.
It’s worth noting that, style aside, it’s wonderfully practical too – a durable surface that’s easy to wipe down and maintain. In our opinion, it’s considered touches like these that make a space feel truly bespoke.
Hello Designer Doors
We were keen to create two separate spaces in the kitchen and living room, whilst ensuring that an all-important sense of flow and light was maintained. For that reason, we installed black-framed Crittall-style dividing doors – a design choice that adds a touch of industrial character and complements the overall aesthetic beautifully.
Our decision to install a fluted glass pocket door adds visual interest whilst saving valuable floor space too (pocket doors slide into the wall rather than swinging open). For us, the fluted glass tied into the fluted glass detail on the kitchen cabinets and bar and elevate what is typically a purely functional element in a home.
Sophisticated Storage
I’m sorry, but can we take a moment for the robot hoover’s bespoke docking station in the boot room?! For us, it’s the perfect example of how working with interior designers can help not just to maximise space but also to ensure that it truly works for clients’ individual requests. We won’t lie – it’s potentially one of our favourite client requests to date.
We also worked with Searle & Taylor (who designed the kitchen and joinery) to ensure that the utility joinery disguised bulky items like the washing machine and tumble dryer, and that the boot room joinery housed not just coats and boots but household items like keys in a smart and stylish way too.
Finishing Touches
If you’re looking to create a luxurious feel in your home, considering the finer details goes a long way. In the custom-built bar area, for example, the stunning 1810 copper sink has become a real showstopper – the perfect finishing touch to an entertaining space designed for hosting family and friends. And the engraved light switches – something that, again, is often overlooked – add a layer of refinement and quality you can both see and feel.
Final Thoughts...
From start to finish, this transformation really was an absolute joy to work on, so we hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the finer details of the design.
We’ll be back next month with more behind-the-scenes insights from our projects.
For now, we wish you a peaceful January ahead.
