After last month’s nostalgic look back at seven incredible years in business, we’re thrilled to be diving into another ‘Tale of Transformation’ – this time, a former Methodist Church turned contemporary home for a wonderful family in South Wales.
With major structural changes, full-scale decoration, and carefully considered furnishing, this was one of our most ambitious – and satisfying – makeovers to date.
Here’s how we brought those ‘after’ shots to life!

Let There Be Light
When we first stepped inside this home, one thing was immediately clear: it needed more light – and lots of it. With that in mind, we got to work knocking down walls – specifically, the one between the old dining room and kitchen, along with the ceiling in the kitchen, to open up the space.
Luckily for us, there was an old window in the room directly above that ceiling, which we were keen to take full advantage of. By incorporating it into the design, we allowed natural light to flood the space from above, creating a bright, airy atmosphere that feels worlds away from the original layout.
We also added glazed double doors to the hallway, living room, and sitting room, which act like elegant frames throughout the entirety of the ground floor. Drawing the eye from one space to the next, they allow light to move freely throughout the home.

A Cohesive Flow from Room to Room
If you’ve followed us for a while, you’ll know that we’re passionate about colour continuity. Why? Because it’s one of the most effective ways to create a sense of cohesion throughout a home.
With that in mind, it won’t come as a surprise that we employed this tactic again here. For this project, we used Little Greene’s ‘Slaked Lime Mid 149‘ on every wall – a warm, neutral tone that reflects light beautifully and creates a calm, consistent backdrop. This was complemented by woodwork in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Railings’ – a rich, blue/black tone that added a grounding contrast.
Combined with new warm oakflooring, large format porcelain tiles and a cosy plush carpet, the result is a home that feels thoughtfully connected, balanced, and calm.

Design That Works for a Busy Family
When selecting furniture for busy families, it’s crucial to strike the right balance between style and practicality.
With this in mind, we made the large dining table a focal point by adding pendant lights in the open-plan kitchen/diner – the perfect setup for family gatherings. In the hallway, we combined freestanding and bespoke built-in storage, ensuring muddy boots and wellies have a stylish place to live. And in the bathroom, we made sure everyone’s needs were met: a luxurious freestanding bath to unwind in the evenings, paired with a large walk-in shower to keep busy mornings running smoothly.

We’ll be back next month with more makeover magic.
