There’s nothing more satisfying than when a client falls in love with our work through photographs and gets in touch as a result…
And that’s exactly what happened with this project – a beautifully renovated and restored Victorian family home in South Wales which, once upon a time, operated as a nursing home!
While we had the pleasure of restoring the entire house to its former glory, we’re shining a spotlight on the master bathroom this month because, if we’re honest, it’s one of our firm favourites.
Guided by our clients’ desire for a timeless and tranquil master bathroom, here’s how we brought their vision to life…

REIMAGINING THE LAYOUT
As you’ll see from the ‘before’ photos, the space originally consisted of two bedrooms with separate entrances from the landing. To create a truly exceptional bathroom, we reconfigured the layout by closing off both original doorways and introducing a grand double door directly from the master bedroom.
The result? A spacious, serene sanctuary with a spectacular entrance that delivers instant ‘wow factor’.
To ensure cohesion between the master suite and the bathroom, we maintained a soft, neutral palette and added panelling to the walls – a detail that echoes the property’s period features and runs consistently throughout the home.

MAKE WAY FOR THE BATH… AND SAUNA
It was actually the freestanding bath from our Manor House project that first caught our clients’ attention and inspired them to get in touch. So it’s no surprise that we made a freestanding bath the centrepiece of their own bathroom too.
Paired with elegant brushed bronze fixtures and a statement crystal chandelier suspended at the room’s centre, it creates the perfect space to unwind in style.
And for those who love an added touch of indulgence, we also incorporated a built-in sauna – the ultimate bathroom accessory if space allows. In our view, it strikes the perfect balance between character and comfort, elevating this already special space into something truly luxurious.

MARBLE MAGIC
Speaking of luxury, we used white marble extensively – from the double vanity unit, flooring and wall tiles to the skirting and dado details. In the shower enclosure, we opted for the same marble in a stunning arabesque mosaic, adding a layer of texture and visual interest. Even the toilet area features a beautiful marble niche above, adding refinement in every corner.
Beautiful alabaster wall lights complete the look, casting a soft, warm glow that enhances the space’s elegance.

AMPLIFYING PERIOD FEATURES
To further honour the home’s heritage, we reinstated removed period features by adding traditional wall panelling and a beautiful ceiling rose above the chandelier – reinforcing the house’s original character and tying this space in seamlessly with the rest of the property.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Being involved from concept right through to completion meant we became especially attached to this project. The final result is serene, luxurious and effortlessly elegant – a true reflection of the home’s history and the clients’ vision.
